A continuation of Yesterday's Reading Goals:
- I can identify the purpose of my reading
Today, after reading for just over 15 minutes, students reviewed their brainstorm of "Forms" that were completed yesterday. Ms. Engel posted the photo of the Forms from Thursday's blog post.
Student's demonstrated their understanding of Forms by writing in their journals
Writing goal:
- I can make connections between writing form and purpose
Today, the students picked FIVE forms from their list and then completed the prompt with their understanding of the purpose. Then they are to give two examples.
1. The Purpose of an Magazine Article form is to entertain and inform the audience regarding a specific topic.
- First example: an article found in People's Magazine would entertain and inform the audience regarding celebrities and their current relationships.
- Second example: an article found in Triumph World Magazine would entertain and inform the audience regarding a unique TR4 restoration in England.
more time will be given on Monday to complete this assignment.

Today, our essential learning was mainly regarding building our classroom routines. Having a healthy class environment takes the entire group. We practiced listening while we finished the name game and we built relationship by sharing your favorite chocolates.
You did a great job of jumping into the reading today! I appreciate your willing to share your two truths and a lie.

When we annotated Essential Learning we said that
Essential meant: vital, important, "must do" and priority
we also noted that in our past Learning might have had a boring characteristic. We made the connection between Learning and Knowledge (independent inquiry).
We are looking forward to continuing our development in Reading, Writing, Representing and Presenting: creatively, compassionately, respectfully, honestly and intently.
Home work = Bring something to READ for Friday's class.
